Dodger World Series trophies, 2008 Opening Day. In 2007 I followed my bliss and took a different (base) path: I started working in baseball. A lifelong fan, I was privy to the inner workings of America's pastime, and the seven years I spent there was an education in the sports world, on-field, off-field, on cable, and backstage. It's the biggest entertainment game (pun intended) around, and it changed forever how I viewed fandom. After 500 events with up to 55,000 people attending, it was time to return to the solitude of the writer's life, taking with me the energy and passion of people who love their people.
